"Below are some photos of our family Holidays, at Butlin's in the 60s. The camps were Filey, Minehead & Skegness. My name is Michael Hellewell, I'm in the first photo with the Redcoats at Minehead, winning the first prize in a running race, which was a free Holiday. We all won free Holidays at Minehead that year & the next year, 1964, we went to Skegness for free. We went to Butlin's up until the 70s and then started going to a Holiday Camp at Scarborough, called Colley's Cosy Camp, which then changed it name to Scarborough Holiday Centre and closed about the same time as Filey did. We went back to Filey for one more Holiday in 1975, and that was the last time which I went to Butlin's for a holiday. I did work at Filey in 1979, in a Burger bar called American Parlour, which was the old Oasis Lounge.
Sadly, my Dad Jack Hellewell passed away in 2010 from a Stroke, age 80. Then, my Brother Allen Hellewell passed away in 2011 from cancer. Allen is in the photo with me, in the boats at Filey (see here), also my Dad is with me & Allen in the indoor pool at Filey (see here) and also Allen in the road train with me at Filey (see here). Other photos show my mum & sister.
Filey camp was the nearest to us, as we live at Cleckheaton in West Yorkshire. We had so many Happy Holidays at Butlin's. I would like these photos to go up as memories to my Dad & Brother, Jack Hellewell & Allen Hellewell.
Thank You, Michael Hellewell"
